In April 2024, the Minister for Education announced a phased return to normal grading, beginning in 2025. To ease this transition, post-marking adjustments (concessions) were gradually reduced in 2025 while minimising the impact on students as much as possible.
The return to standard grading is taking place over several years in a phased, student-focused manner.
Additionally, the same modifications to assessment components, such as increased choice on Leaving Certificate exam papers, will remain in place for 2026. These are identical to the assessment adjustments applied in 2023, 2024, and 2025.
